This is a 4 month post graduate cert in the assessment and management of the Diabetic Foot . If you are a medical doctor working in Pakistan with people with Type 2 Diabetes, this certificate will enable you to manage the Diabetic foot from low risk to remission to Foot ulceration and limb salvage.
Pakistan is alarmingly third in the world for the highest rate of Diabetes ( IDF 22) and increasing rapidly. Complications from Diabetes include nephropathy, retinopathy, cardiovascular disease, peripheral arterial disease, Neuropathy, Foot ulceration and lower limb amputation. Lower limb amputation in Pakistan ranges from 21 to 48% (IDF,22). Preventing the first ulceration through evidence based internationally renowned standards of practice is vital in preventing potential limb loss.
This 4 month course is made to fit around your busy working lives as much as possible with weekly lectures and discussion forums, case studies and guest lecturers from experts in the DF. With some practical training days to cement skills learnt in Vascular and neurological assessment , Offloading and casting , Debridement and dressings etc, this course offers intensive learning with frontline DF practitioners to ensure you are providing the best care to your Diabetic Patients.
