Objectives
Objective The objective this certificate course is to train existing medical practitioners in Pakistan to become skilled Diabetic foot specialists capable of delivering a high standard of care in this area. This will enable you assess, diagnose, treat, manage and refer diabetic foot patients.
Learning Outcome
After successfully completing the training and passing the final certification exam (Post Graduate Certificate inDiabetic Foot – Post Grad Cert DBF) graduates can function as Diabetic Foot practitioners and will be able to applythe skills.
Entry / admission requirements of the program
Applicant must be a graduate of MBBS, from a Pakistan HEC recognised university.
Duration of the program
Duration of the program will be 4 months. Theory sessions will be hybrid (online and face-to-face) while clinical practice will take place in the clinics and hospital in Islamabad. There will also be guest lecturers on specialist aspects. For those outside of Islamabad there will be 1-2 condensed (full time) clinical days/sessions and virtual clinical section in which the Practical clinical skills will be taught.
Assessment
Theory, practical and clinical modules will be assessed by formative and summative assessments.
Scope regarding market, social and employment perspective of the program. Graduates will be able to perform as:
1. Diabetic Foot practitioner: They will learn how to assess, diagnose, treat, manage and refer patients with lower limb and specifically Diabetic Foot problems. Additionally, how to incorporate their clinical knowledge into their daily practices and function as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
2. Teaching: They will be able to be involved in teaching Diabetic Foot management as teaching assistants to other health-care graduates and undergraduates.
3. Research: Residents will learn how to be a research assistant (under supervision) to set up, conduct and defend a clinical study research.
-> The course will be delivered by established specialists in this field.
-> Due to start of July 2024, this is an intense 4 month course, which will involve local and external examination.
-> There will be limited places on the course, and these places will be approved for eligible applicants, on a first registered, first committed basis.
-> Cost for the course is £1000 GB Pounds
Assessment / Evaluation
-> There is a combination of written examinations, assessments and Case based - clinical practice examination sessions.

Future Progression
Once completed and certificate obtained, there will be ongoing access to a forum where colleagues can support each other and lecturers involved to assist.
